Retia, LLC's public repository is currently named `DefconBadge2026`, but its immutable first source-release commit calls the project `DEF CON badge (2024)` and its README is titled `DEF CON Badge (2024) — ESP32-S3`. That source snapshot includes KiCad and fabrication material named `2024_def_con_badge_v1`, a badge photograph, and high-level hardware documentation. The official DEF CON archive identifies the 2024 event as DEF CON 32, so the record is attached to that existing edition as a retrospectively documented independent artifact; neither Retia nor DEF CON source reviewed here calls it an official Human badge, an attendee entitlement, or a confirmed event handoff.

The DEF CON 33 Creator Events List independently schedules a Friday BadgeLife Community drop naming FightDystopia alongside Submarine and FrogStar. This establishes a source-backed independent 2025 electronic artifact and scheduled event association, not an official DEF CON credential, universal or completed handout, BLE detection mechanism, security or privacy assurance, firmware source release, party-benefit accounting, or reusable-image rights.

HackMy*'s maker storefront labels GigaGeiger a Wi-Fi badge for DEF CON 33 and shows a USD 120 price with a sold-out-since-August 6, 2025 state. The same listing describes a retro Geiger-counter-inspired device with a single rotary dial for 2.4 GHz channel monitoring, MAC-address foxhunting, and browser-based firmware flashing; it says the product shipped with a lanyard and batteries. Its linked public Penzz-HM repository publishes an MIT-licensed Arduino/C++ implementation for an ESP32-S3-WROOM, GC9A01 display, rotary input, Wi-Fi scanning, promiscuous-mode packet counting, RSSI tracking, and a local web updater, plus firmware binaries, Gerbers, and enclosure STL files. A separately published GigaGeiger PCB project on PCBWay is dated June 25, 2025, names Matt Wagner, provides Gerbers, and is marked CC BY-SA. Two contemporaneous project posts authored by the public Reddit account u/zer0patient and signed H4irl1n3 M0gg3r5 describe an independent planned DEF CON 34 Zombie Badge project. The later source explicitly describes two objects using ESP32-S3, IR, NFC, BLE, a buzzer, and a source-described transmission/counter relationship; it also announces a firmware-based, multi-stage CTF and an unreleased backend.
