Hayes SmartModem-inspired Wi-Fi modem badge
The JawnCon 0x1 modem badge was a wearable miniature Hayes SmartModem homage for the October 2024 Philadelphia-area hacker con. JawnCon's official write-up says it used RetroWiFiModem to simulate the AT command set and drive the LEDs, with a PCB carrying an ESP radio, level shifter, and vintage red LED front; Hackaday covered it as an ESP8266-powered Wi-Fi modem badge for early-Internet services.

WyrdWyrks' live Uberflux listing identifies the $150 Celestial Wayfinder Badge as a DEF CON 34 pre-sale. At this August 3, 2026 source pass, the listing shows 5 sold and 95 remaining, with four pickup labels: DC34 Reddit Meetup Wednesday, DC34 Reddit Meetup Thursday, and DEF CON 34 BadgeLife 1 and 2. The maker describes an ESP32-S3, custom four-layer PCB, 128×128 OLED, SX1276 LoRa, GPS, magnetometer/IMU, five Cherry MX-compatible switches, a rotary encoder, 61 WS2812B LEDs, a buzzer, 3D-printed parts, a Li-ion battery, USB-C updating/charging, a LoRa mesh, Wi-Fi geolocation fallback, and a PWA. The public MIT-licensed firmware repository documents v1/v2/v3 platform variants, a 915 MHz SX127x-class LoRa mesh, GPS/status PingMessage data, PlatformIO build paths, RPC, and remote USB/BLE/web configuration; v4.0.0 publishes v3 and v2 binaries. A separate Fusion360/STL CAD repository and web-companion repository are public but have no detected license. Sold-out independent ESP32-S3 wrist badge with a second-run interest list
Bryce's official Clip-Boy shop explicitly presents Clip-Boy as an unofficial DEF CON 34 electronic badge: a wrist-mounted ESP32-S3 artifact with maker-described Wi-Fi/Bluetooth analysis tools, deauthentication detection, customizable LEDs, a theremin, collectibles, and a 3D-printed enclosure. Its live public inventory endpoint currently shows the complete first run at zero availability: 86 $120 Standard, 25 $130 Pro, and five $140 RAD badges, while the storefront says all 152 first-run units shipped and is only gauging interest for a possible second run. The seller states units ship in a passive listen-only mode and that a user may load an optional research build with additional capabilities for authorized testing. This is a current source-backed independent badge record, not a claim of official DEF CON affiliation, DEF CON admission, final hardware/BOM, delivered-unit receipt, a universally available research build, safe/legal use in every jurisdiction, or reusable-image rights.
Founder-announced 3D-printed/NFC badge for Pirate Pieces of Eight
NaClCON's official registration included a NaClCON Badge and access to the Pirate Pieces of Eight CTF, while the official schedule listed a CTF and Badge Intro. A public pre-event announcement by founder Luke McOmie (Pyr0) describes a 3D-printed/NFC conference badge for the Pieces of Eight CTF and Pirate Scavenger Hunt. The event later occurred, but no reviewed post-event source directly establishes final badge fabrication, attendee handoff, or the announced NFC implementation, so this is retained as a source-backed pre-event artifact announcement rather than a shipped-hardware claim.
