The THOTCON 0xB badge was a rescheduled-2021 Chicago electronic conference badge in a retro controller / circus-ticket form factor. Rob Rehrig's first-hand writeup documents an ESP32 main controller, reverse-mount RGB and single-color LEDs driven by an IS32FL3731 LED driver, capacitive touch buttons, piezo buzzer, accelerometer, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi node behavior, IRC remote connectivity, and serial interface.
Maker-documented ESP32-S3 electronic conference badge
BSides Knoxville's 2025 official guide says Fox Pick made the event badges. In a public post-event talk, a Fox Pick representative describes the resulting electronic badge as ESP32-S3 based, with Bluetooth Low Energy and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, an SSD1309 display, capacitive touch controls, USB-C, a CH340 USB-UART bridge, battery voltage monitoring and charging/protection circuitry, a NeoPixel status light, and exposed I/O pads. The talk says source code was made available through a QR-linked GitHub page, but this pass did not recover a direct repository URL.
Maker-published one-off ESP32 badge-challenge device
A source-bounded independent BSides Peoria 2025 challenge-badge dossier. Technet8394's event-period public HackTheBadge README calls the work "My ESP32 code for the BSides Peoria Badge Challenge 2025." Its later source release documents an ESP32, a 240×320 ILI9341 TFT panel, two batteries, and wiring. BSides Peoria's official 2025 announcement establishes the October 25 Bradley University event, and its 2026 organizer retrospective says the prior edition drew nearly 350 people and had electronic badges. No reviewed organizer source links this specific maker project to a main attendee badge, official issuance, or completed handoff, so the catalogue keeps it as an independent event-associated challenge device.
Badge Pirates ESP32-S3 touchscreen conference badge with a later firmware path
The BSidesKC 2025 badge was a Badge Pirates fully electronic conference badge documented through public production and fulfillment updates: 250 fully assembled ESP32 touchscreen badges from PCBWay with 3.2 inch touch screens, Wi-Fi, SD card slots, customs delays, tariff impact, and post-event pickup or shipping handling. A current maker-hosted flasher identifies its target as ESP32-S3, while a 2026 Badge Pirates announcement says the delayed 2025 hardware, not a new board, received a Lunar Lander contest continuation for BSidesKC's Ad Astra programme.
Independent ESP32-S3 Wi-Fi monitoring and foxhunt badge sold for DEF CON 33
HackMy*'s maker storefront labels GigaGeiger a Wi-Fi badge for DEF CON 33 and shows a USD 120 price with a sold-out-since-August 6, 2025 state. The same listing describes a retro Geiger-counter-inspired device with a single rotary dial for 2.4 GHz channel monitoring, MAC-address foxhunting, and browser-based firmware flashing; it says the product shipped with a lanyard and batteries. Its linked public Penzz-HM repository publishes an MIT-licensed Arduino/C++ implementation for an ESP32-S3-WROOM, GC9A01 display, rotary input, Wi-Fi scanning, promiscuous-mode packet counting, RSSI tracking, and a local web updater, plus firmware binaries, Gerbers, and enclosure STL files. A separately published GigaGeiger PCB project on PCBWay is dated June 25, 2025, names Matt Wagner, provides Gerbers, and is marked CC BY-SA. These sources establish a real independent 2025 BadgeLife artifact and a public design trail, not official DEF CON issuance, admission, a completed event handoff, a complete electrical specification, universal radio/OTA safety, or a rights-cleared hero image.

Pre-event BTV fundraiser for a DC32-origin ESP32 camera badge
Blue Team Village at DEF CON's Eventbrite offer schedules the BTV Camera Badge as a DEF CON 34 fundraiser for August 7-9, 2026 at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall, with in-person village pickup only. Carolina Code Conference's organizer documented Circuit Board Badge pickup for its August 14-15 event, and its named badge partner published a source archive for an ESP32-S3 CircuitPython board. The archive identifies five WS2812 LEDs, three buttons, a 1.77-inch ST7735S display, Micro-USB, and CR123A or USB power. It supports a released badge software and hardware reference, not a recipient ledger, an independently audited final production configuration, or a rights-cleared physical-badge image.
Sold-out independent ESP32-S3 wrist badge with a second-run interest list
Bryce's official Clip-Boy shop explicitly presents Clip-Boy as an unofficial DEF CON 34 electronic badge: a wrist-mounted ESP32-S3 artifact with maker-described Wi-Fi/Bluetooth analysis tools, deauthentication detection, customizable LEDs, a theremin, collectibles, and a 3D-printed enclosure. Its live public inventory endpoint currently shows the complete first run at zero availability: 86 $120 Standard, 25 $130 Pro, and five $140 RAD badges, while the storefront says all 152 first-run units shipped and is only gauging interest for a possible second run. The seller states units ship in a passive listen-only mode and that a user may load an optional research build with additional capabilities for authorized testing. DC801's live Helgatchi product page identifies a $120 portable, rechargeable BLE-beacon and Wi-Fi-access-point scanner/hunter with configurable alerts. It names a XIAO ESP32-S3, 8 MB flash, a 400 mAh 3.7 V LiPo, 1.69-inch 240 by 280 Waveshare LCD, six RGB LEDs, vibration motor, and external SMA-RP 2.4 GHz antenna path. Pips801's public repository contains separate hardware and firmware/UI trees, while the public DEF CON 34 Badgelife response identifies DC801 + 801 Labs' Helgatchi as a new badge associated with the August event. The listing remains an independent seller artifact with planned July pickup/shipping terms—not official DEF CON issuance, a Human badge, admission, confirmed recipient delivery, a fully audited detection device, an open-source license, or a rights-cleared image.
Publicly announced 100-unit ESP32-S3 badge offering planned for DEF CON 34
A contemporaneous public r/Defcon post calls this a Sneakreaper limited-edition DEF CON badge and says only 100 would be available at a Sneakreaper Industries booth; the post author later replies with Hall W4 and $150. The same post names an ESP32-S3-MINI-1-N8, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 13.56 MHz NFC, and programmable LEDs. Crucially, it says that most listed capabilities will not be ready out of the box: only LED colour/brightness changes, a hidden software CTF or scavenger hunt, and NFC read/write are marked as available on DEF CON day 1. The official DEF CON forum fixes the related conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center on August 6-9, 2026. Public player-guide electronic challenge badge; allocation unverified
BigDawgDave's public GitHub repository describes itself as the public repository for a DEF CON 34 RM-Cyber challenge badge called The Shattered Shard. Its Player Guide tells participants to use an assigned badge with a charged battery, a local Wi-Fi/browser interaction, a data-capable USB cable, a serial terminal, and one labelled-jumper task. It is enough evidence to preserve a separately named, independently documented pre-event electronic challenge badge, but it does not prove the RM-Cyber relationship, organizer authorization, hardware provenance, sale or giveaway, run size, allocation, physical handoff, completed on-site use, admission function, or a rights-cleared image.
